Water Service Line Inventory

As required by the 2021 Lead and Copper Rule Revision (LCRR) issued by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Williamson Water Department is required to create an inventory of water service line materials in the Town. The service line is the pipe that brings water from the water main into your home, and the EPA mandates that municipal water authorities take inventory of service line material identifying the need for near future full replacement of lead service lines.

If you’d like to self-inspect your water line, please use the below form for instructions and submission.

For any other questions or concerns, please email watertreatment@towilliamson.com or call the Town of Williamson Water Plant at (315) 589-3781.

Water Service Line Inventory

  • Service Line Information

Before starting this section, please locate your house's water meter. Typically, you can find the meter in your basement. It usually sticks out of the floor or a wall near the floor, and it tends to be near the wall closest to the street. Pictured below is what a typical water meter looks like.

This form is concerned with the material of the pipe which emerges from the wall/floor and enters the meter.

If you had reported or had your service line inspected last year, no further action is needed.

Before starting, gently rub any dirt or dust off the pipe to better discern the material; then find a magnet as well as a coin, key or other metal object to use as a scraper.
